This is the way it goes. A funny, well-written film about regular, average guys comes along - and no one goes to see it. Why? Because, for some reason, a major studio doesn't pick it up, doesn't market it, and it can't buy its way into the theatres. That is the main reason that this hidden gem, released in 1995, most likely straight to video, never found its way into your house.
I would go to your local Blockbuster today and see if they have a copy of this movie. Mine does, so if you're in the North Point neighborhood of Reston, VA, you're in luck. If not, find out why your local video store doesn't and make sure they get a copy today.
Four friends, early thirties, living in New York City, all having woman problems of one kind or another. They sit around and talk about their problems and a semblance of a plot moves them forward through their issues. The only thing you need to know about this movie is that it is terribly funny and witty, as well as demonstrating that Jon Cryer actually does have some talented bones in his body, because he is given the main scriptwriting credit on the film in addition to the starring role.
Finally, as to the derivation of the title - you guessed it - it's from that famous Steve Miller Band song - "The Joker." Why? You'll have to see the movie.
